My 5 Personal Advice for Social Innovation (and for the White House Conference).

Hi friends, readers, visitors, and stalkers:

Thanks for keeping up with my blog. I’d like to ask you to lift up a prayer for me. Sometime later today, I have the honor and privilege to be one of 10 speakers at the inaugural White House Faith-Based Social Innovators Conference.

Here’s the official verbiage and part of the invitation:

The White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and the Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation, in coordination with the Office of Public Engagement, would like to invite you to speak at an event at the White House on Wednesday, July 11. We are hosting a forum to discuss the important role that faith-based social innovators play in expanding opportunity and addressing social issues.

Part of the program will include “TED-style” sessions where we will highlight the work of several leaders Read the rest of this entry »

please don’t do this disgusting thing

After reading the ruling of the courts recently that Westboro Baptist Church’s protests during funerals and others places are constitutional, I’m seriously contemplating starting a website called

Christians Against Christian Jerks

I wonder if http://christiansagainstchristiansjerks.com is available.

I’m not timid in saying that I really dislike them people. Sorry.

You’ve heard me already write and rant about the paradox of Christian jerks:

Getting her ready for high school ball Rain or shine. I'm not even ashamed to admit it. #TigerSportsDad Humbled.and grateful. Today is the "official release" of my first book, OVERRATED. That means it's NOW available everywhere ONLINE and at you favorite bookstore. Appreciate your support in sharing this book with the world. - AreYouOverrated.com

Praying that this book helps the believer grow in their discipleship and the non-believer to be fascinated by the Gospel. Thank you Bend, Oregon. Loved exploring & hiking around your beautiful area. Going to bring my fishing rod next time. Sabbathing. Pouring into my soul. We can't give what we don't have. I love my church. So proud of the ways they seek to embody compassion and justice. Some of them were in downtown Seattle this week to demonstrate their solidarity with Ferguson.

I'm in the middle of a 3 month sabbatical at Quest. I'm grateful for this time of rest and rejuvenation...but I miss my church dearly. Can't wait to be back in October. There are some amazingly beautiful churches around the world. Just remember though that true worship begins when you exit the church walls and live out your faith and convictions.
