“what seminary should i go to?”

Someone asks me this question once every couple weeks:

What seminary or grad school (theology/religion) would you recommend?

It’s hard to give a simple answer without understanding a person’s context:

  • Who are you?
  • What’s your biblical and theological worldview?
  • Do you want to go into vocational ministry or into academics?

But for the sake of this blogpost and because the majority of these emails I get are from folks wanting to go into pastoral ministry:

  • What would your recommendations be for someone that is seeking to go into pastoral ministry? Why?
  • Where did you go to seminary or grad school? Would you recommend it to others or not?
  • Where are you currently at? And…?

Home sweet home. Well, farewell Australia. You've been swell. G'day mate. But can't wait to come back to Seattle. Miss my family and church so much. Umm, so Melbourne takes their street art/tagging/graffiti pretty seriously. Blocks after blocks. Another attempt to become the greatest amateur smartphone photographer. St. Paul's Anglican Church. #Melbourne #Australia #GalaxyNote4 Wow. St. Paul's Anglican Church in the heart of Melbourne. Was mesmerized by the juxtaposition of the church, skyline, and clouds. Also, diggin' the "Let's Fully Welcome Refugees" sign. Sydney Public Markets. Lovin' the overall vibe and the international diversity of the city. #australia
