What does it say about our country that we have to hear the cold and hard truth from a comedian?  Check out the video below as comedian Jon Stewart of the Daily Show interviews and exposes Jim Cramer – the self hyped investment and financial guru.

We are going through a painfully historic economic crisis and recession.  It’s repercussions will be felt for years or at least, I suspect that’s the case.  Things may never be the same – and maybe that’s good.  Why?  I’m no economics sage but something is clearly broken.

We’ve sought wisdom and guidance from our politcians, national leaders, and powerful CEOs and all we’ve had thus far are lots of finger pointing, bailout packages, and [insert thoughts here].  Well, we’ve finally heard something accurate and prophetic from our comedic “fool”:

“It’s not a f**in’ game…” Read the rest of this entry »

thank you for the financial bailout

After doing some more reading and research, I concluded the bailout was not not a good idea.  But when you propagate fear into people and the system, everyone does what people normally do:  they [both individuals and lending institutions] look out for #1.  And for that reason, while I didn’t support the bailout, I acknowledged it was necessary…to alleviate the fear and anxiety.

What do you think of this bailout?  Were you in support or against?

But, I hope folks realize the problems are bigger than this bailout.  Who will bail out the corruption and greed of our country…of our hearts?

But to reconcile any anger, frustration, or anxiety you may have, I give you this video of a U2 song [ONE] that will bring great joy and harmony to your heart.  This cover comes to us through the friendly people of BoA [Bank of Abuse] Read the rest of this entry »

17.5 Year Anniversary!
We still got it. We look gooooood!

Blessed to be back in Princeton, NJ for couple days recently. We had our wedding ceremony in Korea but got "legally" married in the US at Miller Chapel in Princeton Seminary. So, it was only fitting to go back and have my kids take our 17.5 Anniversary pics. Someday when our kids become adults and they feel like their parents wronged them or neglected them, and they feel like they need to get counseling... I'm going to show them this picture and say, "I HAVE PROOF. WE TOOK YOU TO NYC AND BOUGHT TICKETS TO WICKED ON BROADWAY!" RIP Robin Williams.
Folks: Please go and - call or hug your loved ones. Tell them you love them. Remind them how you much appreciate them.

We need to (re)learn how to be more human. Don't avoid eye contact. Don't hide behind gadgets. Smile often - both to neighbors and strangers alike. Ask about peoples' stories. And listen.

And most importantly, remind yourself that YOU are loved. Not just merely by your loved ones but also by the ONE who created all that is good and beautiful. Dang. The bright lights of NYC.
Having been a youth pastor in Flushing between 1992-1994, I really miss this place.

Empire State of Mind. Smitten my NYC. There's no place like this city in the world. The Statue of Liberty. "Give me your tired, your poor..."
