Here’s another reason why Google is helping impact the world – in creative ways. I love this idea and will be submitting our idea for the poverty organization. Much of what they are asking for on their new initiative website is what we’ve been working on for our organizational business plan. And perhaps as a positive sign, the deadline for all ideas is October 20 – my birthday. That would be a great gift.
What’s Google’s new initiative?
Project 10100 (pronounced “Project 10 to the 100th”) is a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible. Here’s how to join in.
1. Send us your idea by October 20th.
Simply fill out the submission form giving us the gist of your idea. You can supplement your proposal with a 30-second video.2. Voting on ideas begins on January 27th.
We’ll post a selection of one hundred ideas and ask you, the public, to choose twenty semi-finalists. Then an advisory board will select up to five final ideas. Send me a reminder to vote.3. We’ll help bring these ideas to life.
We’re committing $10 million to implement these projects, and our goal is to help as many people as possible. So remember, money may provide a jumpstart, but the idea is the thing.Good luck, and may those who help the most win.
What a great question! How would you help change the world?
Seriously, share some of your ideas. And if you’ve got the guts, go the website and submit your ideas.
Here’s the article from CNN:
Got an idea that could change the world, or at least help a lot of people? Google wants to hear from you — and it will pay as much as $10 million to make your idea a reality. Google Inc. will award $10 million to solicit ideas it believes could benefit the world.
To help celebrate its 10th birthday, the ambitious Internet giant is launching an initiative to solicit, and bankroll, fresh ideas that it believes could have broad and beneficial impact on people’s lives.
Called Project 10^100 (pronounced “10 to the 100th”), Google’s initiative will seek input from the public and a panel of judges in choosing up to five winning ideas, to be announced in February.
Google announced the project live on CNN on Wednesday morning.
“These ideas can be big or small, technology-driven or brilliantly simple — but they need to have impact,” Google said in a news release. “We know there are countless brilliant ideas that need funding and support to come to fruition.” [read full article]

I like it…. quote from the google “why this project” page.
“In the midst of this, new studies are reinforcing the simple wisdom that beyond a certain very basic level of material wealth, the only thing that increases individual happiness over time is helping other people.”
