friday [brain dead] movie: korean drama

After traveling for several days around smaller towns around Seattle teaching on the importance of ‘CULTURE’ and issues dealing with ethnocentrism, redemptive analogy, worldview, and behavioral modification, I need to go brain dead. So, for your viewing pleasure and to demonstrate that I can poke fun at Korean culture, here’s a great madTV skit on the melodrama of some Korean dramas. My wife will completely disagree but oh well.  Enjoy.

However, it is interesting to note that the influence of Korean cinema is exploding.  It’s good and bad.  Korean pop-culture reminds me of the Japanese cultural phenomen between the 40s-80s.  Good and not good things availed and similar things are taking place with Korean pop culture.  For example, I was stunned how Thai people were enamored by Korean pop culture in my short stay in Thailand months ago.

For those interested, I posted some thoughts of Korean films a while back:

This skit was hilarious, but I also have to say that I have enjoyed watching some of the movies on your top ten list. ‘Friend’ was disturbing but well acted, and ‘Shiri’ was also intense but excellent, easily better than most Hollywood movies of similar genre. And I LOVED ‘My Sassy Girl’. Great stuff.

Yup. Definitely funny stuff. :-) Thanks for the chuckle, P.E.

That’s just like me laughing at blond jokes. ;-)
