For those that have known me for any length of time, you’ll know that planting churches have been on my heart even before we planted Quest. The vision that I believe God has placed upon my heart is not only to build a healthy Quest that exemplifies the love and grace of Christ but for Quest and its community to be a catalyst to plant other churches and to build partnerships with these churches, and with our denomination, to plant more churches.
The goal isn’t to do more; it isn’t to simply do for the sake of doing; it isn’t to build the institution for the sake of enlarging the institution; it isn’t to become a larger church; it isn’t to make a name for ourselves. There are certainly these dangers. But if you asked me why planting churches are so important, the reason is very simple: The church – despite all of its blemishes – is beautiful. And through churches, although not exclusively, we see Jesus made known and real, and people coming to revelation and depth in their relationship and discipleship.
Regarding a possible campus or churchplant in Bellingham, Washington, there is nothing right now. No programs. No Sunday worship services. No community groups. No people. Since we have nothing and want to see something, I am visitng some gatherings called “exploratory groups’ in the next few months in Bellingham. “Exploratory” simple means ‘a journey to discovery.’ My hope and prayer is to work with our church’s Elder Board to form ‘exploratory groups’ in the upcoming years in Bellevue/Eastside, Federal Way/Tacoma, Vancouver, British Columbia, and perhaps, the larger Portland , OR area.

I really appreciate your heart for church-planting. Let me know when a Federal Way group gets going-my parents might be interested.
